A piece about peace.

Since Bright Line Eating my creature comforts, my inner truth has become louder and undeniable.

Authenticity used to show up contaminated in fear-based thoughts and feelings, but without the soothing special effects (dare I say addicted numbing effects! …insert horror movie soundtrack) it became habit of avoiding truth that was not supportive to my success, health and well-being, I had convinced myself that whatever I’m doing will hopefully work out. Avoiding the truth, I was driven by palpable fear. The truth that authenticity emerged isn’t surprising.
In other words: it was never about the food. Addicted eating was just one of many ways I avoided facing challenging emotions or actions. There are many ways to connect with your inner life, your truth, again. Most importantly, you don’t have to beat yourself up for what you are or aren’t doing, a practice that’s super counter-productive in the search for truth.

Compassionate Self-Honesty

This means: you notice.

Act as a benevolent neutral observer of yourself without judgment. Practicing Compassionate Self-Honesty is as simple as spending 15 minutes in a nourishing space to reflect and sit with what’s true for you without needing to avoid it, erase it, analyze it, or change it. No numbing. No future tripping or spinning the past.

Simply sit and notice what’s there.

  • What’s true for you today?
  • How do you feel?
  • What do you need?

Once you’ve taken a few minutes to check-in, feel empowered to take action that’s aligned with that truth in loving service to yourself, even if your truth today is: stuffing food doesn’t make me feel so good.

What feels true for you, align with it and give yourself a break. By doing so, you set yourself free.

Compassionate Self-Honesty as a path to freedom, looking deeper into the places where you may be keeping your light hidden.

  • What’s true for you today?
  • How have you been avoiding it?
  • Can you align with it?

I can recognize wholeheartedly that while Bright Line Eating isn’t difficult, it is different. It’s a whole new way of thinking about food and your brain and sometimes a “whole new” anything can seem overwhelming.
