Ever since my early 20s, Wayne Dyer has been a voice in my head guiding me. I thought of him as a wise elder, his earliest cassette tape recordings were unquestionably a touchstone.

Inspired by Wayne Dyer and his conviction to his own 40 days Bikram yoga challenge, I joined in with my own version. Forty-four days before my 44th birthday, a devoted and desperate yoga challenge. It was early 2016 and I needed to make big changes and I heard yoga will brighten your day and prepare your mind to enter a calm and relaxing world of blessedness…. aah yes, bring on the good feels.

So it began, yoga every day – sometimes twice.

Boy was I wrong!!

I freaking hate it, I hated it. Constant mind racing, tense muscles, and fighting the urge to bail in every class. Yoga was not the answer, and practicing an extra-long savasana was the only solution to get through the forty-four-day battle. Finally deciding yoga was the problem, yoga was simply a no go- nope yoga was not for me.

Of course, as a strong woman with fortitude and intelligence, I thought I knew how to deal with this wild outrageous awkward awareness. Guided by the spirit within I tried to make a good decision. I had to grant myself permission to give the deepest love, kindness, and grace with selflessness and servitude and forgo yoga.

The quest didn’t just start with combining full forced love of yoga and a deep desire to create a bigger relationship with my body. Soon realizing there was just no finish line to this race, even with as much effort as learning to love and accept unconditionally, it was easy to invent new things to hate. All of this felt hopeless and painful.

To feel bad about one more fiasco was surely not an accident.

The dream of being a blissed-out yogi was history but still a divine blessing as it may be.

So let’s get to it.

Always genuinely en route to the truth, pursuing peace or a light in the dark, pining for a pioneer or way-shower, my Wayne Dyer yoga trail wasn’t it, but why not persevere?

Everything else – the rainbows, the unicorns, the world of blessedness – will come eventually.

Forging ahead humbled, deciding to just stick with what works. Meditate, pray, make a vision board, get another dog?

We’re complex beings, and clearly, we can’t address just one isolated problem with a magic bullet solution and hope to make meaningful lasting change. Therefore one must continue on more persistent and determined. The most important thing about stopping is starting again. Meditation has always offered plenty of goodness.

But only if you start. Just like how climbing a mountain works.

Introducing Bright Line Eating. How it Works.

Because of agony in the yoga exploration, through meditation freedom and healing showed up.

Then very subtly, just like the way clouds sometimes just break up, something started to sort of dissolve, and as it dissolved, it started to be more quiet and clear. One of the comments from my massage therapist that comes back to me a lot, she said (and I’m paraphrasing here) that when you’re having trouble making a decision, there’s often a lot of noise in your head around it. But when you finally make that right decision, suddenly it goes quiet. I remember that comment really resonating with me at the time.

Feeling barely qualified to take another precarious plunge into self-love and discipline, this exact experience emerged. Disappointment and at times feeling cheated by the universe… while battling mistrust and fear of failure, faith restored from darkness and through the toughest times, even after a series of rock bottom moments, for the first time, the noise in my head was quiet.

There it began,  finally a holistic approach to total life mastery.

Today, for the first time, I really don’t think about my body much. But maybe this is undermined by the fact I am currently thinner than I have been in my adult life, literally 30 years.

Personally, I made a great choice. Bright Line Eating is the most effective weight loss program in the world and accumulating the real-life data daily to prove it.

But it’s not always easy to make the right choices. Some are easy, and some… not so much.

Grow into your greatness

Remember the disaster with yoga when I divorced the dream of perfecting poses and abandoned my mat? Well, in early 2017 ( newly graduated boot camp turn Bright Line Eating lifer) I attended a beautiful retreat for some R&R. The agenda mentioned exercises that would clear the body’s energy, calm the mind, boost our vitality, and relax our souls…. in particular Yoga!! To my demise, this part of the retreat was not noticed prior, nor optional. Devoted to the moment, with an open-heart I surrendered to an incredibly powerful, loving intention and adoring practice, in an instant I learned I hated yoga less when I hated my body less.



Seven Steps to Developing Growth

The thing is, we are not always going to know which one is the “right” decision. But it’s not really about being “wrong” or “right”… every so often those pebbles of “wrong” lead to a rock-solid plan.

Your view of yourself can determine everything, get the foundations in place first. This both propels us and prevents us from fulfilling our potential. Changing our mind has a powerful impact.

Our ideas about risk and effort come from our mindset. Some people realize the value of challenging themselves, they want to put in the effort to learn and grow. In the modern world resources to maintain you can unstick the places you’re stuck, unblock the places you’re blocked, and become the best possible version of YOU.
